It matters not how long one lives, but how one lived
For many of us, our years at the Sports School were moments of great opportunities and gratification. Those years also saw us grow significantly as an athlete, as a person. And we were able to experience all these because of our founding principal - Mr. Moo.
Mr. Moo believed that athletes could do better to balance studies and sports, and was courageous enough to initiate and help establish a system that aided this balance – the Singapore Sports School. If not for Mr. Moo’s drive and efforts, many of us would not be able to fully pursue our passions for sports, let alone taste victory in them.
Mr. Moo was also unlike ordinary principals. Taking care of us was not the typical morning or afternoon session job, but a full 5 day-week post. He identified with us and would share in our disciplined lifestyle by staying in the same hostel as us students and taking meals with us regularly. Mr. Moo looked after us as though we were his family, and the school’s atmosphere certainly felt that way. We will always remember our principal whom we knew to be a patient, gentle and flexible man.
Mr. Moo lives on not only through his achievements, but through the people who benefited so much from him, and care about him.
We miss you Mr. Moo. And thank you for helping us make our sporting dreams possible.
